Darwin Life
We had a few days to settle in and get the boat ready her first wet season. Straight to Bunnings for some additional shade and soon Singularity was all wrapped up to try and beat off some of the intense heat of the Darwin build up. We headed back home to Perth for a few weeks to catch up with family and friends.
My Mum had been battling cancer so I was particularly keen to get home and see her; as were my siblings who had been doing rotations of care and support for Mum and Dad and it was my turn. We had also missed Jemma and Kalani and Ian and Jen dearly, as with all our friends so it was a time of many catch ups.
We returned to Darwin and got stuck into Darwin life. We brough a couple of pushbikes, a cheap car and got ourselves some work… Nicky at Anaconda and myself with DHL. From there we spent our time split between casual work and exploring all Darwin has to offer.
Soon the rain came, but not before the humidity had beaten us up on a daily basis!! Wet season in Darwin has some awesome weather watching…
We really enjoyed all that Darwin has to offer, a very cosmopolitan city with a lot of history and influence from Australia’s northern neighbours.
A couple of house sitting gigs got us off the boat and into real air conditioning for a few weeks at a time. We enjoyed time looking after the dogs and also being based up in the northern suburb of Nightcliff, which gave us easy access to the great coast up there.
Before long we were back in Perth for a visit before returning to get ready for our trip up into Indonesia. We would be accompanied by Greg and Jen, something we were excited about, sharing our first overseas adventure with good friends.
Darwin - we love you!
